Fixture

A game in which the home team attempted to beat their visitors into submission but did not anticipate the ability of Nant to absorb the pressure and deliver quick, decisive blows. The game was a somewhat scrappy affair with the referee having to speak to the captains several times and to resolve the occasional contretemps.

Nant got off to a flying start and soon had their first points. Quick, decisive running and passing between the backs and forwards ended with Cai Jones taking Rhydian Jones's inside pass to go over. Caron Davies then added the conversion. A second try soon followed when Rhydian Jones was stopped just short of the line and the ball was recycled, eventually finding Sion Pringle who went over. This put Nant up by 12 points.

Cobra hit back with a quickly taken tap penalty seeing them make ground. Though Nant stopped the initial run, Cobra set up the driving maul to go over. The conversion reduced the lead to 5 points.

Nant responded to this setback when centre Davies saw a gap and glided through to find Jones who scored his second try near the posts. Davies then converted to put the lead back to twelve points. 

Again Cobra came back and got their second try with a drive following a strong scrum. 

As with when the first try was conceded, Nant hit back almost immediately. This time it was Jac Ellis in support to take the inside pass and score Nant's bonus point try. Davies's conversion gave Nant a half-time lead of 26 - 12.

The second half was very similar to the first with Cobra driving with their big forwards and Nant countering with speed. A number of promising moves came to an end with passes going astray but Nant still began to amass points. Jones got his hat-trick try early in the half before Cobra hit back following sustained forward pressure to make the score 19 - 33.

Davies then increased his points tally with a try of his own when he charged down an attempted clearence and won the race for the touch-down. The final try came from Cain Jones who outsprinted the covering defenders. He converted his own try, giving the final score of 19 - 47 in favour of Nant.
